Past-a-Rama By Robert L. Fitzpatrick The sun broke through the cracked panes of glass at the Cookieville Orphanarium in Miss Sheehan’s office. The stocky Irish woman had her eyes glued to the television set while an 18 year old cyclops girl filled out paperwork nearby. On the television a dashing young captain named Zapp Brannigan laid out his plans for an upcoming DOOP conflict on the Planet of the Centipedes. A woman reporter asked him a question. “Captain Brannigan...why exactly are we going to war with this planet? I don’t believe anyone in this press conference has laid that out for us.” “Well...they’re grotesque - just look at them. They’re centipedes, for God’s sake. And they get into your shower…” “So, we’re to believe that you’re going to engage a planet in an armed conflict because they appear grotesque to us…” Miss Sheehan swooned over the young officer. “He’s a looker, isn’t he? I’d like to have him start a war in my neighborhood - I’d quarter him up in my

The Little Things in Life by Robert L. Fitzpatrick "Ewww," cried Amy as she started to pour her coffee in the lounge; she brought her purple boot down and crushed a large red ant on the floor. "This place is getting gross." Amy took her cup of coffee up to the Professor's lab, where he was experimenting with a small spider monkey. His huge light beam projector was just starting to cool down as he examined the ape. The monkey was finished writing on a piece of paper, and handed it over to Farnsworth; the Professor frowned as he scanned the scribbling. "No, no, no...this is not what Kafka's Metamorphosis is about at all. You've got to think outside of the box...look at the symbolism." The poor ape shrugged his shoulders. "I know, I know...literature can be a hard subject to grasp. Here - you can have an orange anyway." "How are you coming with that IQ booster of yours?" asked Amy as she playfully scratched the creature's head. "Only moderately successful. His penmanship is chicken

I haven't mentioned anything yet, but I woke up yesterday morning to the news of the mass shooting at the Fed Ex facility in Indianapolis at the airport; if you've heard about this in the news, it's about 12 miles south of where I live. I think the city is still stunned by this. It's actually the third mass shooting here in Indianapolis this year, one of them being a spat over a stimulus check which involved a pregnant mother being gunned down. But the number of mass shootings in this nation so far this year just numbs the mind; the police officer that was killed in Boulder, Colorado in the grocery store shooting was a graduate of my college in Muncie. There have been 148 mass shootings in this country since the year began, and 5 since last Thursday. In Thursday's Fed Ex shooting, the gunman was a 19 year old who'd been let go from his job there. He'd already been detained briefly on the advisement of his mother, and his weapon at that time was taken away by police. Well, he got
I just learned this morning that Chick Corea passed away from cancer on Tuesday. A wizard on the keyboard and piano, he was once part of an amazing band called Return to Forever. The reason I mention this is because I listen to this band constantly as I do my artwork here. Return to Forever, along with the band Yes, make up some of my favorite musicians that make my life easier and more enjoyable - it's rare that I don't have an RTF album playing on my computer as I do art here at my dining room table. Him, along with his bandmates, are probably some of the most talented musicians at least that I've ever heard. They are some of the "rocket fuel" for my art here at Deviant Art. Rest in Peace, Chick. This morning I did a slight repair job that was a long time coming. On my picture "80's College Girls" I took out an annoying autumn tree in back of Marge Simpson that did little more than just mess up the picture. In short, Marge got lost in the colors of the tree. I left the falling leaves in, as they still added something to the picture. Here's the finished product -
