I took time out from my artwork today to take a needed side trip. The weather turned out beautiful, so I drove the two-hour road trip over to Champaign, Illinois just to do some "Bob" things. I looked through my journals the other day, and the last time I'd been there was in February of 1989 on a freezing cold day. Today was 77 and beautiful.
I discovered a wonderful used bookstore in the heart of downtown Champaign called Jane Adams Books. it was spread out over three stories, and had these neato rooms going here and there. In the science fiction section, I found a rarity; "Battle for the Planet of the Apes," which was written by none other than David Gerrold. Now that name may not ring a bell, but if you've ever heard of a Tribble, he created them. I bet you could scour half the country and not turn up this book. I also found a nice Asimov collection of short stories from gobs of authors. Real Bob stuff. If you've never read Asimov, look into him.
Being an aviation nut, I also had to go to the airport. Darn nice FBO there, as it was 26 years ago. Got some nice photos of the flight line. It would have been a beautiful day to fly.
I've got to be to work bright and early tomorrow, so the real world intrudes again. But it was nice to shove some playtime in there on a rare Saturday off. And, if there are any Illini fans out there, I saw about a thousand tail-gaters getting ready for the big game. And it looks like you did well in that game.

A Season of Madness
I haven't mentioned anything yet, but I woke up yesterday morning to the news of the mass shooting at the Fed Ex facility in Indianapolis at the airport; if you've heard about this in the news, it's about 12 miles south of where I live. I think the city is still stunned by this. It's actually the third mass shooting here in Indianapolis this year, one of them being a spat over a stimulus check which involved a pregnant mother being gunned down. But the number of mass shootings in this nation so far this year just numbs the mind; the police officer that was killed in Boulder, Colorado in the grocery store shooting was a graduate of my college in Muncie. There have been 148 mass shootings in this country since the year began, and 5 since last Thursday. In Thursday's Fed Ex shooting, the gunman was a 19 year old who'd been let go from his job there. He'd already been detained briefly on the advisement of his mother, and his weapon at that time was taken away by police. Well, he got
Another Musical Hero Gone
I just learned this morning that Chick Corea passed away from cancer on Tuesday. A wizard on the keyboard and piano, he was once part of an amazing band called Return to Forever. The reason I mention this is because I listen to this band constantly as I do my artwork here. Return to Forever, along with the band Yes, make up some of my favorite musicians that make my life easier and more enjoyable - it's rare that I don't have an RTF album playing on my computer as I do art here at my dining room table. Him, along with his bandmates, are probably some of the most talented musicians at least that I've ever heard. They are some of the "rocket fuel" for my art here at Deviant Art. Rest in Peace, Chick. A Fix-up...
This morning I did a slight repair job that was a long time coming. On my picture "80's College Girls" I took out an annoying autumn tree in back of Marge Simpson that did little more than just mess up the picture. In short, Marge got lost in the colors of the tree. I left the falling leaves in, as they still added something to the picture. Here's the finished product -
Bugs in da system...
I wanted to throw this out there because someone hopefully has a suggestion on it. Recenty my dA has been having a weird hiccup - basically, I keep getting tossed off the page and have to refresh. It happens very frequently, and has been going on for weeks. Before I toss rotten tomatoes at dA, I think the problem might be in my browser - I used Edge. Any ideas are welcome.

"Asimov collection of stories by other authors" - Is that "Before the Golden Age" (part stories, part autobiography, in 3 volumes)? Or collected stories from Asimov's SF Magazine (about 1 volume per year, dated?).
Yes, I have an SF geekiness!
